‘GREEN HEAT’ is a term first addressed in the late ‘90s that addressed a significant opportunity for the ‘global village’ to increase the use on renewable energies.
The low-grade thermal applications that can be met by Green Heat represents the largest secondary end-use of energy in the world.
Since 2000 the senior personnel in Transen Sustainable Energy Systems have been involved with the design, development and manufacture of a range of water-to-water and water-to-air ground source heat pump systems. Single and three phase units are produced and tested at their factory in Coleraine, Northern Ireland and installed in residential and commercial projects throughout the UK
The company’s policy of ongoing product development has evolved whereby a prospective client is offered a ‘one stop shop’ package consisting of circulating pumps, ground loop systems with manifolds and stainless steel storage tanks, each designed to service the building’s space heating and hot water requirements.

With the ever rising cost of home heating oil, (approx £425 for 900 lt), long gone are the days of affordable domestic heating solutions…We decided to look closely at Ground Source Heat Pumps In Northern Ireland.
With Gaia wind turbines generating on average 30-40,000kwhs pa - on inland wind speed sites, we noted that typical energy consumption was 30-40% for most of Silverford’s installed Gaia wind turbine base in Northern Ireland, with a large percentage of the unused electric being exported back to the grid.
So what's the problem with exporting 60-70% back to the grid that you may ask… Well for one, selling your surplus electric to NIE at 5.49p is definitely not the most profitable solution! Why not use the surplus electric to heat your home…that got us thinking!
After a interesting conversation with Transen’s Bryan Law at the Action Renewables - Practical On Farm Renewable Energy Show at Greenmount Campus (Antrim), we quickly realised that we shared very similar ground.. In fact Bryan was currently installing a Heat Pump at an Eco house in Scotland, powered by a Gaia wind turbine.
From listening to Bryan, and his team at Transen they have the answers, and more importantly – the facts, and happy owners to back up their remarkable heat pumps! To cut a long story short, we now highly recommend the Transen range of heat pumps…
If only Northern Ireland would adopt the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme, as per the rest of the UK...you could have your cake and eat it, or generate your own electric and heat with it! Currently in the UK, anyone who installs such a system (Turbine & Heat Pump) you will get rewarded (as in ££s) for generating green electric from your wind turbine and heating your home via the RHI scheme. | |
What Our Client's Say The Transen 3 phase units are doing everything we could have wished for. The hot water unit is easily supplying all our needs without the use of the gas boiler we installed as a 'top-up' unit. The two units for the underfloor are so efficient that even in the cold spell we had this spring with the very strong east winds we have so far had to use one of the Transens and that was operating for less than half the hours available. We dread to imagine how cold it will be before we need to engage both models at the same time. James Barbour - The Barbour Partnership
