A planetarium is a theatre where visitors can enjoy amazing shows about the wonders of the Universe. Stars, planets and spacecraft are shown in full-colour on the surface of the planetarium’s dome-shaped screen taking the audience on a journey through space. Armagh Planetarium originally opened in 1968, making it the oldest operating planetarium in the UK and Ireland.
Spectacular 3-D colour images projected across the entire dome and an impressive stereo sound system combine to make each star show in the Digital Theatre an unforgettable experience. We can show the audience what there is to see in the sky that night from home or we can take them to the depths of space and back again!
After the show, why not explore our fascinating exhibition halls? If you feel like a break, you can have a snack in the Voyager Café or a picnic in the landscaped Astropark. After that you can join in the fun activities, including building and launching your own rocket!
