The Health Centre Pharmacy is the only independent pharmacy in Carrickfergus. The premises at Taylors Avenue have been modernised, and the professional services offered to patients have been recognised by the many professional awards displayed in the pharmacy.
The Pharmacy has been owned and managed by the Lloyd family since 1999.
The Lloyds are a local family. From the mid 1950's, Len and Margaret provided pharmaceutical services from a Chemist shop in High Street, Carrickfergus. They moved in 1977, along with other chemists in the town, to the newly built Health Centre.
Today, Jonathan leads a large enthusiastic professional team, and is supported by other members of the family, Jan, Valerie, and Jack.
Their aim is to continually update and expand their professional services for the benefit of the local community, as an important part of a forward looking primary healthcare team.
Prescription Collection
Our location within the Health Centre ensures that we are in regular contact with the doctors and their staff. This is invaluable, as it means that patients can phone or email their repeat prescriptions directly to us, which can then be ordered and collected from the patient’s doctor by our staff. Your prescription can be prepared and ready for collection in advance.
Our close proximity with the Health Centre also facilitates the ability of your doctor to phone through a prescription for you in an emergency.
Free Delivery Service
The Health Centre Pharmacy can provide a FREE prescription delivery service within the Carrickfergus area.
We provide this Monday–Friday between 2pm-5pm. Please do not hesitate to request this service if required.
Minor Ailments
Do you need really to see a G.P?
Patients suffering from minor ailments, such as colds, sore throats, hayfever, vaginal thrush, headlice, dhobe itch, diarrhoea and athlete's foot can now be treated on the NHS at the Health Centre Pharmacy.
Around certain times of year, GP surgeries are required to deal with large numbers of patients suffering from minor ailments such as sore throats, headaches, coughs and colds and hayfever.
Smoking Cessation
Want to Stop Smoking?
Smoking is the single greatest preventable cause of premature death and avoidable illness in Northern Ireland.
We offer a specialist one to one smoking cessation service within the pharmacy.
Its aim is to help motivated quitters to stop smoking.
Medicine Review
A prescription ‘MOT’ is your chance to have a private, face-to-face conversation with our pharmacist about your prescription medicines.
By the end of your ‘MOT’ you’ll:
· Know more about your medicines and what they do
· Understand the best way to use your medicines
· Feel confident your medicines are now working to benefit your health
