Ian established Ian’s School of Motoring in 1990. After a few months of qualifying to become an Approved Driving Instructor business was thriving. Pass rates were high and Ian's passion for the business led to a very successful turnover of pupils mostly through recommendations.

The business developed into the training of potential driving instructors to become ADI's to assist with the demand of work.

Motorbike instruction followed and this led to the opening of the first office in Newtownards teaching cars, bikes, ADI training, trailer lessons and for a short period only due to the demand of the business LGV & PSV lessons.

Ians is now one of the premier driving schools in Northern Ireland offering an NVQ Level 3 in Driving Instructing.

Lorry Lessons
Ians is now offering training for the following categories:
C All lorries over 3500kg towing a trailer up to 750kg (equiv to the old HGV 2or 3).
C&E All lorries over 3500kg towing a trailer over750kg(equiv to the old HGV1)

ADI TRAINING
Ian’s A.D.I. Training Services specialises in training P.D.I.’s (potential driving instructors)for the three qualifying exams which need to be passed to become a fully qualified driving instructor. Over recent years there has been a very high success rate for the many P.D.I.’s we have trained, with quite a number passing all three exams on their first attempt, almost unheard of some years ago.
Pay As you Go Fee Structure

COACH & MINIBUS LESSONS
Ians is now offering training for the following categories:
D Any bus with more than 8 passenger seats towing a trailer up to 750kg.
D1 Minibuses with between 9 & 16 passenger seats towing a trailer up to 750kg.

TRAILER LESSONS
Horse Box, Cattle Trailer, Car Transporter & Caravans
If you have passed you car test after 1997 the chances are you will have to pass a trailer test to be able to tow a trailer over 750 kg - ie: Horse Box, Car Transporter.

INTENSIVE LESSONS

Do you need to gain your Driving Test in a hurry? Course can be taken over a period of 1 to 4 weeks.
If you have driven before an assessment lesson is advisable as less/more lessons may be required.
