Automatic gates are also known as Electric Gates - there is no difference - just two ways of describing the same thing.
Gates can be automated in several ways.
1. By using underground motors.
2. By using pillar mounted motors.
3. By using sliding gate equipment.
There are several versions of each.
Underground motors can be either electro-mechanical, or electro-hydraulic systems.
For most home driveway gates, the electro-mechanical are the most suitable as they are not opening and closing continuously.
Electro-mechanical systems are suited to commercial applications - such as car-parks where they must operate continuously.
Pillar mounted systems tend not to be very popular as the motors are visible, but are suited to solid wooden or sheeted gates.
Sliding gates are suited to situations where the driveway slopes steeply or where parking space is important - the gates slide from left to right, as opposed to swinging on the pillars. We only use FAAC equipment - the finest equipment available anywhere.
