The Ulster String Quartet is an experienced, Northern Ireland-based ensemble that combines the talents of four young professional musicians. The quartet performs regularly throughout the province at events ranging from weddings, receptions and parties to formal dinners, corporate functions and conferences. In addition, we have performed at a large number of private events in some of the region's premier function venues.

Weddings
Music fulfils an essential role at several key points during the ceremony and we are always available to discuss the ways in which we can make the music for each such occasion as enjoyable, personal and memorable as possible. For church ceremonies, an organist often accompanies the hymns, but we will gladly undertake this role if required.
We can also provide additional musicians, whether to make up a bigger ensemble or as soloist for us to accompany. Whatever the instrumentation, we can help cater for any ensemble you want.
The Ulster String Quartet are proud to have an exclusive relationship with nationally renowned soprano Rebekah Coffey. Rebekah has appeared with many of the leading UK orchestras including the Ulster Orchestra, the Hallé and BBC Concert Orchestra. Her most recent performance with the Ulster Orchestra was at Hillsborough Castle at the 2009 BBC Proms in the Park.
Wedding Breakfasts, formal dinners, drinks receptions and parties
The sound of a string quartet can greatly enhance the ambience of a formal dinner or reception. We perform at many such occasions, lending a discreet air of sophistication with a selection of classical favourites such as Haydn and Mozart string quartets and classics from the operatic repertoire.
We are often asked to provide background music for the full duration of such events. Alternatively, we can play whilst the guests arrive and drink their apéritifs, in order to create an atmosphere conducive to conversation and to establish the character of the dinner to come.
Corporate events, launches and functions
The Ulster String Quartet is skilled at working with event organisers to assist in creating the right atmosphere for a corporate function.
We can draw from a broad repertoire of classical favourites to create a sophisticated formality at such occasions. Alternatively, we can launch into a lively selection of showtunes, Scott Joplin ragtime music and traditional jazz from the large selection at our fingertips.
The Ulster String Quartet is most commonly requested to provide a combination of these contrasting possibilities. For example, we might begin formally with a selection of Baroque and Classical arrangements - perhaps Bach's Brandenburg Concerti or Tchaikovskt's Nutcracker Suite - before proceeding to Ravel's charismatic Bolero and Di Capua's O Sole Mio, a relaxing selection of Gershwin and Cole Porter favourites and a rousing rendition of Bart Howard's Fly Me To The Moon!
This type of programme can provide a light-hearted conclusion to the event, or could also act as a bridge leading on to other festivities such as a late-night disco.
Repertoire
The Ulster String Quartet's extensive repertoire list covers a wide range of musical styles and tastes. The list is far from static, as we are constantly adding more pieces to it.
We also provide a bespoke music arrangement service should you not find what you want on our current updated repertoire list. This means that for a reasonable additional fee, you can have the music that you want, whatever it is.
