ABOUT ME At the tender age of about 10 years I went for a walk in the countryside with my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic. I snapped away, but even though there was a film in the camera, to this day it has never been developed. The sheer enjoyment of holding the camera, looking through the viewfinder and composing an image was enough to ignite my passion for photography. That was over 40 years ago.
My enthusiasm was given an extra boost around about 2003 when I converted to digital. The birth of digital and the ability to have your darkroom on the screen in front of you has made photo manipulation available to the masses. A classroom qualification and teaching experience has enabled me to teach ‘Basic Digital Photography’ to year 7 pupils at a local Primary School. The enthusiasm of such young people towards this medium is nothing short of infectious.
Apart from wedding photography, and I admire those who do specialise in this area, I have an enthusiasm for most other types of photography. However my specialist areas would be, landscape, fine art, macro (close-up), nature and heritage. Architecture has also recently been added to my list after visiting a futuristic design shopping complex in Belfast. Of all my specialist areas, on a personal level, the most rewarding is probably macro. Getting so close to flora and insect life I really appreciate the beauty we often miss with the naked eye.
Most of my photography has been concentrated in and around two areas of the United Kingdom – Northern Ireland and The Lake District. About 14 years ago I went to the Lakes to undertake Mountain Leader Training and fell in love with the area. I visit every year and it has become like a second home.
I presently use Nikon professional equipment for all my photography. I am a member of The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers (SINWP) and The Society of International Travel and Tourism Photographers (SITTP).
My images, both traditional and contemporary, are suitable for home, office, café, restaurant or shopping mall. I am a sole trader, working from home. My service is friendly and efficient and I can supply quality prints of all my images, at affordable prices. I am also available for commissions. Images ordered via the internet for postage outside N. Ireland will be supplied in print form. Within Northern Ireland images can be provided as print, canvas, mounted and framed.
