“The physician must be experienced in many things, but most assuredly in rubbing” Hippocrates.
Massage is the most ancient of the healing practices primarily because it is such a natural human instinct. To rub an aching neck, head or back comes as naturally to us as breathing. There are many physiological benefits to massage besides the fact that it simply feels good. By understanding these benefits, we can see why it is such an effective means of combating the effects of stress.
There are many different forms of massage, but they all share the same basic principles. Just look at the many ways that massage can benefit total health.
- Massage reduces stress and promotes relaxation, thereby minimising stress-induced illness.
- Massage increases blood circulation and lymphatic fluid movement improving the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the body and elimination of toxins. This alone is highly beneficial to the general health of the entire system.
- The massage of chronically tense muscles aids in the removal of built-up toxins and improves the structure and function of the area, providing not only physical relief, but improved psychological well being.
It is no surprise that more and more people are turning to massage as a treatment for all types of health conditions. For those suffering the effects of stress, the relief provided by massage is unsurpassed.

Daphne’s call-out service is particularly useful for people with busy lives who wish to avoid the inconvenience and stress of travel. This way you can have your massage treatment in the comfort and warmth of your own home and afterwards relax in a warm bath or curl up with a good book.
Daphne works six days a week from 10am until late in the evening, so you should be able to find a convenient time for your treatment.
What to Expect As part of the first visit Daphne takes a confidential consultation which allows her to get an overview of the client’s lifestyle, including any health issues, so she can tailor the best possible treatment for your individual needs.
It is important at this stage to tell her about any constant or recurring conditions, injuries of ailments you have or any medications you are taking.
It may also help to think about what you want to gain from a treatment.
Some clients may feel uncomfortable with the idea of removing their clothes, but rest assured that every effort is made to retain the client’s modesty. During the treatment towels are draped over the client, covering any area of the body which is not being worked on.
In a typical full-body massage session the client lies face down and the massage begins on the back and shoulders, followed with the backs of the legs and buttock muscles. The client then turns over and massage is carried out on the front of the body to include the feet, toes and front of the legs, abdomen and arms. This is followed by a chest, shoulder and neck massage to include a face and head massage which completes the session.
The average full-body session takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
