Arkle House Bed & Breakfast Derry

Arkle House Bed & Breakfast based in Londonderry Northern Ireland is described in the original brochure as a 'Gentleman's residence', was built around 1900. The property has been recently refurbished, with great care taken to maintain the original charm and ambiance of this lovely old building. Most of the original features, such as the antique fireplaces, frieses, picture rails, etc can be seen. The many favourable comments we get from our guests is testament itself to the skill of the craftsmen who worked on the restoration.

Arkle House Guesthouse Derry is ideally situated 1.5 miles from Londonderry City Centre. We have shops, a post-office, chemist, church, restaurant, pub and sports complex all within five to ten minutes walk.

Whether you are a tourist visiting the North-West, or a businessman looking for peace and quiet, at Arkle House Bed & Breakfast you will find us 'very accommodating'.

The City
Derry's walled city contains within its Georgian streets many very fine buildings including St Columb's Cathedral (1633).

Just outside the old walls of the city is the Guild Hall, seat of local government, constructed in neo-Gothic style.

The walls themselves date back to the early 17th century and have withstood several sieges including the most famous siege which lasted 105 days in 1689. Derry's walls have never been breached hence the reason for the title ''The Maiden City''.
