Welcome to Claragh Sandstone
Claragh Sandstone is a family run business set in one of the many hills of the famous song The Hills above Drumquin.

Run by Cecil and Avril Orr, the business has progressed in recent years from selling cut sandstone to also supplying stone paving, garden features, granite cills, lintels, kerbs, steps and hearth stones for stoves. Pillars are also made to order. We have also completed many building projects over the years, some photos of which are shown on this site.


Sandstone is a sedimentary rock formed by the compaction of sand, which is held together by a natural cement, such as silica. Natural sandstone is an extremely hard and tough material and is typically the youngest of the quartz-based stones, with each stone having a different level of porosity, hardness and compressive strength.
