Welcome to Hughes Mushrooms
Hughes mushrooms was formed as a result of a decision to close Trew and Moy railway station in 1964. As the station was an important link in the transportation of locally grown mushrooms to the Scottish and English markets, the local station master Kevin Hughes put his experience to good use and purchased a small lorry to offer the growers an alternative means of transport.

Hughes Mushrooms have been supplying Sainsbury’s for 10 years and currently market 150,000 kg of fresh mushrooms each week.


Our Philosophy
At Hughes we love mushrooms and all things mushroom related. Innovation is very important to team and we love to think up new ways of bringing the mushroom to the attention of customers. We are not afraid to try new ideas, or to try new recipes, packaging or products never before seen in the world of mushrooms.

We love to innovate new ways of packing mushrooms to ensure that our products reach the consumer in as good a condition as they did when they left our soil. However, the environment is important to us, and we are constantly striving to cut down on our non-biodegradable waste which consumers and retailers throw away. These are just a few reasons why the multiples like dealing with us. In addition to our reliable deliveries of fresh and tasty products, we always provide them with innovative ideas which can help to raise the status of the mushroom category.

We provide them with recipe ideas, new tastier flavours, functional mushrooms and mushroom guides showing people how to store, clean and enjoy all things mushroomy!
