About Bill Abernethy Photography

Although I have an enthusiasm for most other types of photography, Architecture and Landscape would be my favourite subjects. However I also have an interest in Fine Art, Macro (close-up), Nature and Heritage. Religious Architecture has also been added to this list and would be included in my specialist areas of photography. I do not provide Wedding Photography services.

Most of my photography has been concentrated in and around two areas of the United Kingdom – Northern Ireland and The Lake District. Recent travel to further parts of the United Kingdom and the Mediterranean area have expanded my portfolio.

I have received positive comments in relation to my images from as far away as the U.S.A. An exhibition of my work in September 2011 received critical acclaim. Some of my images have been exhibited in Carrickfergus Yacht Club during November 2011 and a number of images were also displayed at Bradbury Gallery in Belfast during April 2012. I am a member of The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers (SINWP) and The Society of International Travel and Tourism Photographers (SITTP), both of which are affiliated to ‘The Societies’ - Professional Image-makers. During 2011 I attained a number of Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for entries submitted to ‘The Societies’ competitions. During 2012 I received further Gold Awards and a number of Highly Commended Awards for my images. On 12 January 2013 I was honoured to win ‘The Societies’ ‘Architectural Photographer of the Year 2012’ award at the prestigious Societies Convention hosted by Maggie Philbin, in the Hilton Metropole Hotel, London.

'The Societies' 'Architectural Photographer of the Year 2012'
The 'Societies' Photographic Convention 2013 was held at a glittering gala Event in the Metropole Hotel, London and was hosted by Maggie Philbin. I was one of 500 photographers worldwide who was in attendance. There were 25 different categories in the Awards. Out of hundreds of Gold Award winning images from throughout the year a few were selected and put forward for nomination for Photographer of The Year 2012 Awards in 25 categories at the Annual Convention. I fought off 3 other strong nominations in my category to lift the title.

The Society itself represents 8 internationally recognised photographic organisations and are the fastest growing worldwide associations for Professional Photographers.

Awarded 'The Societies Architectural Photographer of the Year' again in 2014 at the London Convention in January 2015

Gained qualification, Associate of The Society of International Commercial and Industrial Photographers in July 2015
