About Us

Cancer Fund for Children
Every week in Northern Ireland, three children, teenagers or young adults, aged between 0-24 years old are diagnosed with cancer. Cancer Fund for Children is the leading local cancer charity providing practical, emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people diagnosed with cancer and their families. We also provide support to children whose parent has been diagnosed with cancer through our 'Young Shoulders' Programme.

Cancer affects families in many different ways and our aim is to ensure that each family member - diagnosed child, their parents and siblings receives the support which works best for them. Cancer Fund for Children helps families cope with the impact cancer has on their lives, and supports them through life after treatment and, sadly, in some cases, bereavement.

The charity's services include one-to-one and group support delivered by a team of Specialists working in hospital, at home and in the community, free therapeutic short breaks, away from the everyday challenges of childhood cancer, and financial support.

In Spring 2014 Cancer Fund for Children opened Daisy Lodge, a £3m state-of-the-art therapeutic short break centre in Newcastle Co. Down for children living with cancer and their families. It is the first centre of its kind in UK and Ireland and can capacity for up to 500 families a year who are in need of a break before, during or after completion of their treatment.
