Abaana is a charity set up to help children in Africa. Each year we aim to raise money to sponsor various projects in Africa from building schools, clean water supplies to supplying medical assistance. We help children who spend their days fetching dirty water and collecting wood, or playing amongst the open sewers. We can help children like Emmanuel, who was found at the age of six months. Found because someone walked past a skip and heard a faint cry from the rubbish. Emmanuel's Mum was most likely another street child who couldn't look after him.
Through child sponsorship we help hundreds of children on a daily basis. Abaana has been running a child sponsorship program now since 1997. We believe in child sponsorship because it connects people like you with children that are miles away. When you sponsor a child, your money sends them to school, helps feed them and also covers some medical needs. The sponsorship money also benefits the child's community.
