Rallycross Champ Immortalised In Video

Northern Ireland's British Rallycross champion Lawrence Gibson, is set to race on a brand new track as his legendary Metro 6R4 appears in a new global video game.
The driver, who has been tearing up tracks across the UK for the past 15 years, has now been immortalised in Codemasters’ newest release 'Colin McRae DiRT 2'.
The game features a huge range of off-road racing, from stadium and canyon tracks to jungle trials.
Lawrence explains how it all came about: "I was approached at the start of 2008 by a researcher from Codemasters who said they were in the early stages of formulating a new off-road game and would like my Metro 6R4 to be one of the featured vehicles. It was hard to say no to such a unique opportunity.
"The detail Codemasters put into producing the game was unbelievable. They sent a photographer to our garage in Banbridge and took images of the car from every conceivable angle.
"They also carried out an in-depth analysis of the car’s technical aspects; engine revs, fuel loads and drive trains to engine movements, vibrations and power to weight ratios.
"So what people see in the game, really is a virtual replica of my car. Now my son thinks it's great to try and beat me in my own car when we play the game."
Tracy Robb, a spokeswoman for P&O Irish Sea added: "We have been delighted to support Lawrence for many years now.
"He is a great ambassador for Northern Irish motor sport and it’s great to see his talent being recognised in such a special way."
