I Am Legend

New York has transformed into a post-apocalyptic wilderness, forget the thriving city noises, the horns, the yelling; just one man and his dog remain alongside dark-seeking, virus-crazed zombies.
Will Smith stars as Robert Neville in the latest adaptation of Richard Matheson's novel "I Am Legend" which has previously been adapted as 1964's The Last Man On Earth And 1971's The Omega Man.
Neville is a virologist unable to stop the outbreak of a lethal virus spread of originally designed to cure cancer. Over 90 per cent of the Planet's population have died, 9 per cent were infected but did not die but they have regressed back to a primal state who lurk in the shadows.
Neville is immune as the last remaining person his mission is to reverse the effects of the virus using his own blood.
With help of CGI Will Smith makes the solitude strangely appealing, it's fascinating watching him deer hunting on Park Avenue, swinging golf balls across the Hudson from the deck of an aircraft carrier and pick fresh corn in Central Park.
This movie doesn't take itself too seriously the last section is formulaic with chases, explosions and a lifting of a bleak outlook however it does pose some interesting questions about the collapse and preserve of human civilization.
