Derry's Wall Of Jazz
The annual City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival, organised by Derry City Council, guarantees a programme packed with Jazz, Blues, Funk and Soul delivered by respected artists from throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and America.
The 7th City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival will run from Thursday 1st May until Sunday 4th May and brings almost 300 performers to 58 venues through an impressive showcase of 177 gigs. The festival is recognised as a premier music festival in Northern Ireland and as a host of talented musicians, singers and dancers that descend on the city for the bank holiday weekend.
Two highlights for this year hail from America including The Blind Boys of Alabama who are back by popular demand and the critically acclaimed Kyle Eastwood, son of Clint Eastwood, who has won a number of accolades for his eclectic Jazz compositions.
The Guinness Free Jazz Trail is undoubtedly one of the most popular aspects of the festival, providing hundreds of hours of free music and entertainment over the weekend. This year sees the addition of Early Evening Jazz kindly supported by the Business and Cultural Animation Programme as well as the ever-popular Late Night Festival Club at the City Hotel.
