| | Damien's Top Ten! | | | | So is pondering all the gigs and festivals on offer this month making you reach for the medication? Well don’t despair, let me, your hero, do it for you! Yes I know, I’m half man, half amazing. Here is my choice of the best ten up-coming gigs to see or get tickets for...
1 Fighting With Wire, Wednesday 16th July Stiff Kitten The biggest thing to come out of Derry since Nadine Coyle’s wardrobe. See them now before you have to pay £30 to get near them.
2. Joe Bonamassa,Wednesday 9th July, Spring and Airbrake A blues legend in waiting, and huge around the world. Worth checking out why.
3. Glasgobury, Starts Saturday 26th July, Draperstown Amazing venue, amazing atmosphere, ASIWYFA and The Delawares. What more do you need? Ok, yeah, wellies.
4. Calvin Harris, Saturday 2nd August, Lush! at Kellys Love him or hate him, Calvin is a brilliant live act. His last song with Dizzee Rascal is a tune, simple.
5. Nevermind Revisted, Thursday 7th August, Oh Yeah Music Centre A great chance to see some bands you don’t know performing music you do know.
6. Beardyman, Saturday 2 August, Waterfront Penthouse Bar Officially the UK’s most talented beatboxer, capable of the inexplicable armed with just a microphone. This guy is amazing.
8. Mogwai, Monday 11th August, Custom House Square Ok, I know the Flaming Lips are officially headlining this gig, but for me Mogwai will be the highlight of the entire Belsonic festival.
9. The Go! Team, Friday 15th August, Custom House Square One of the most energetic and fun bands in the charts at the minute. And I know The Zutons are officially headlining this gig but… well, see above.
10. MC5 Friday 18th July Stiff Kitten I know they were in my top ten last month, but in the spirit of MC5, ‘The folks keep complaining they find it so shockin, All the kids wanna do is just keep on rockin’
