Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Greg Weeks is set to play the Black Box on November 27, with support from Chicago duo Festival. Greg Weeks' music is influenced by acid-folk, prog rock and horror cinema, amongst other varying styles. Weeks is best known as a founding member of the psychedelic folk-rock band Espers, and is also a member of The Valerie Project (a tribute to Jaromil Jires' 1970 film 'Valerie and Her Week of Wonders'), who performed at Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown festival in 2007. Weeks has recently recorded with Marissa Nadler and also recently founded the record label Language of Stone, an imprint of Drag City. Greg Weeks' most recent record, 'The Hive', was released on Wichita in October 2008. Weeks will be supported by Festival, sisters Lindsay and Alexia Powell from Chicago. Be it tribal drone, backwards spirituals, basement psychedelia, hilltop roots stomp... whatever element Festival touch upon filters through the genetics of sisterly songs. Their debut record 'Come Arrow Come!' was released earlier this year on Language of Stone. You can catch Greg Weeks and Festival at the Black Box on November 27. Tickets are £6 and are available from: www.blackboxbelfast.com. Doors open at 8:30pm.
