Northern Ireland comedy has never been healthier, and with our present politicians we all need a good laugh. But a new comedy venue has opened in Belfast's Odyssey arena, and the Big List has been to check it out. The Laughter Lounge is based at the Odyssey Pavillion and provides an intimate setting for upcoming and established hilarity. Only 200 are admitted to each performance to keep distractions to a minimum, and has an authentic comedy club feel. On last weeks bill, Neil Dougan, Robbie Bonham and Willie White with compére Steve Cummins launched themselves onto the stage and straight into big laughs. Compére Steve charmed the crowd with tales about his flowing long locks and the occasional jibe to the bald headed in the venue (not me thankfully). Each comedian focused a lot on their home towns for inspiration, but this is a small island, and the punters soon got into proceedings, with Belfast's own Neil Dougan getting some of the biggest laughs for his stories about child discipline and spending the night in jail after taking some Viagra (unrelated of course). The night will be running regularly on a Friday night, so make sure you get down and have a laugh. On the 28th & 29th November, Lisburn funnyman Owen O'Neill plus guests is back for two great shows, with Ruari Campbell, Eric Shantz, Neil Dougan. Entry includes admission to The Cuban Brothers Late Show on the same night. Early show doors 7.00pm, show 8.30pm. Tickets £12.00. Late show with The Cuban Brothers, doors 10.30pm till 2.00am, tickets - £9. Laughter Lounge, Odyssey Pavilion, Belfast. Book online www.laughterlounge.com, Ticketmaster or by Phone 028 90 450 450.
