Pin-Up Your Coat At McCrackens
A scene is emerging in Belfast. A scene where men wear Cheesecutter hats and women wear seamed stockings. A scene that’s been steadily growing throughout Ireland and is now taking firm hold in Northern Ireland.
Yes, The 1920's to 40's is coming back to Belfast to the Vargas Lounge at McCracken’s Bar, Joy’s Entry.
From Thursday 19 February and every Thursday night thereafter from 9pm McCracken’s will come alive with the music, the fashion and not to mention the dancing of the Swing era.
For those not in the know the ''Vargas Lounge'' is named after Alberto Vargas the most well known of all the ‘pin-up girl’ artists and famous as the creator of iconic World War I pin ups. Northern Ireland’s best and most well known Swing D.J's Nick and Hornby will provide the music including classics by from Glenn Miller, Louis Prima, Bennie, Goodman, Gene Krupa and many many more.
McCracken’s has recently been refurbished. It has the style and the ambiance to provide the perfect backdrop for such a evening and more importantly has an amazing dance floor where you can strut your stuff and stroll along to the hoppin' music.
Classic and Vintage clothing aficionados will love this evening as the perfect venue to showcase their style. Anything from women in fringed flapper dresses, drindle and full circle skirts to men in slacks - pink pegged or otherwise - braces, hats and gloves!! But for those purists who just prefer the music and just want to sit back in comfort, soak up the atmosphere, appreciate the dancers and indulge in the Swing then come as you feel.
Admission is free and therefore a night that’s quite simply not to be missed.
