The Big Gig 7 with Adebisi Shank!
The Big Gig is the monthly club in Ormeau Avenue’s SPRING & AIRBRAKE showcasing some of the finest new and established bands that the North & South of Ireland has to offer. It takes place on the final Weekend of every month and its latest outing sees Adebisi Shank, the exhilarating We Are Resistance, and Axis Of take the stage on SATURDAY October 24.
The Big List's Big Gig is just getting better and better, and this October we have probably our most exciting line-up to date, with the monstrous Adebisi Shank, the exhilarating We Are Resistance, and the blinding Axis Of.
Math rock renegades Adebisi Shank are constantly described as the most exciting live act from Ireland in years; that's probably because they are the most exciting live act from Ireland in years. The astonishingly energetic instrumental trio, who are based in Wexford, Ireland have toured Europe and Japan extensively, were hand picked to support Faith No More in Dublin, are signed to three different labels worldwide, and are one of the most thrilling and mind bennding bands you'll ever witness.
We Are Resistance (ex Mantic) sound like a montage of sketches by Bootsy Collins, Rage Against the Machine and Prince while on a rampant night out. Each song is a cavalcade of sound and celebration of circuitry, with vein pounding groove at its heart. Their live performances are full throttle dance-athons that no crowd is impervious to. Expect to be on your feet, punching the air along with everyone else.
Axis Of are the politically motivated clenched fist of youth. With intelligence and social insight as the back bone of their driving punk foundations, it's impossible not to be gripped by their skill and passion, with furious, frenetic thrashing one moment before slowly rolling explosive dynamical twists in the next, Axis Of are a band to behold.
The Big Gig No.7 takes place on the 24th October in the Spring and Airbrake. Doors 9pm, admission an incredible £4. Drink promotions through the night.
