Who doesn't love Bill Bailey? No one I ever met anyway, and now the part-troll crossover comedian is coming to Belfast with his new show, the Remarkable Guide To The Orchestra. Featuring the RTE Concert Orchestra, Bill will be taking us through the orchestra instrument by instrument, demonstrating what each sound means to him, and how they've been used and abused in popular culture. Bill tackles a number of examples, taking us through the use of the perfect fifth interval for good guys in cops shows, and the augmented fourth for the swarthy leather clad bad guys at the docks. We also get to the bottom of how the theme music for the news gives us an insight into their editorial goals, and how the incidental music in nature programmes guides the narrative – all of which are of course delivered in Bill's inimitable surrealist style backed by a full-scale orchestra. This is a light hearted guide to the sounds you hear everyday on the television and in the movies, and despite the comical presentation and laugh-out-loud moments, you'll leave with a real understanding of how music is used to guide your mood and provide context in ways you probably never even noticed. Bill Bailey's Remarkable Guide To The Orchestra is on Sunday 22nd November at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast. Tickets are £55 and £60 including booking fee and are on sale now.
