Belfast's Kitten Bar launched its new look and revised menu at an enjoyable reception last night, writes Carla Liébana. Located near the city centre, on Bankmore Square, The Kitten now offers a good dinner for a reasonable price and all served by a friendly and polite staff. The new menu is varied and provides the opportunity to taste healthy elements presented in tempting but simple combinations. The menu is all homemade and cooked with fresh local products sourced from reputable local suppliers. As well as a range of starters such as mini-hamburgers, wraps, tagliatelle and pies and the main courses include chicken, smoked salmon, fish or beef - all them accompanied by garnish. Cheese is one of Kitten's favourite ingredients so it appears as a special touch in several of the courses. Vegetarian options are also available as an alternative that can be ordered on request. In addition to a wide range of drinks, especially select beers, the Kitten Bar have a fantastic offer of classic cocktails. The venue is really smart, designed and decorated in a modern style, but in a relaxed , soft-lit atmosphere. All this creates a quiet yet fashionable ambience that mostly attracts young people. At the weekend, music is another strength of the Kitten Bar (and always full of young customers): a DJ plays everything from rock and electro to indie or techno, depending on the night. The Kitten Bar serves its home cooked food from noon to 8pm all weekdays and to 5pm on Saturdays. Different menu courses cost about £7 and, during Christmas time, customers can ask for a special menu for lunch (£17,95) and dinner (£ 20.95). (CL/BMcC)
