Paolo-mania gripped Belfast last night as the Paisley singer-songwriter returned to headline Belsonic - and it was a real 'belter' of a peformance. Over 5,000 music lovers came out in force to witness bestselling British male artist Paolo Nutini in action at the sold out gig. The Italian-Scot and his seven-piece band kicked off the performance with 10/10 a lilting reggae tune that got the crowd moving. The slight 23-year-old, clad in skinny jeans and a tight fitting striped jumper, wouldn't look out of place in an indie band but his music spans the genres of soul, reggae, folk, bluegrass and ragtime. As Nutini stood contorted over the microphone he belted out chart-topping hits, such as Candy, Coming Up Easy, New Shoes and Pencil Full of Lead, in his trademark gravely voice that belies his age. The singer has come a long way since he first stepped on the music scene in 2006 billed as a James Blunt/Morrison style dreamboat. His cover of MGMT Time to Pretend reflected this whilst managing to strike a cord with the audience.
