Winters Renewables was set up by Gavin Winters in 2005, and now today, specialise in the design and installation of biomass heating systems for commercial and domestic buildings.
The company is a member of the WON Biomass Growers Group with a capacity to grow 1500 ton of wood chip per year and is also a member of Biomass Energy NI. The company is Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), accredited. Since June 2012 the company was appointed agents for the Ny Varra range of willow harvesters, made in Denmark.
Winters Renewables are the sole agents of Guntamatic in Ireland. Guntamatic are an international market leader in the biomass heating sector. It is a family owned business which was formed in 1963 and production is located in Peuerbach, Austria, in one of the most advanced production sites in Europe. Guntamatic employ around 200 employees and supply a wide range of boilers to suit customer’s specific needs.
The first wood chip boiler was launched in 1985, and now today have a wide range of boilers for wood chip, wood pellets, logs and even grain. The boilers range in different sizes and models, the Biocom boiler is available in three sizes – 30/40/50kW, and burn wood pellets as its fuel. The Biostar boiler also uses pellets and range in sizes of 12/15/23kW.
The Powerchip boilers, range from 20 – 100kW, and both these boilers can run on wood chip, wood pellets or energy grain. The BMK boiler uses logs (up to 50cm long) as its fuel and ranges in sizes between 20 - 50kW.
DETI have just launched the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. This is a government funded scheme designed to encourage commercial and domestic businesses to install renewable heating systems. It is designed to help reduce heat energy bills and try and help Northern Ireland reach their target of increasing renewable heat use to 10% by 2020. DETI have also launched the Northern Ireland, Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) scheme.
This is a government support scheme to help domestic householders install renewable heating and hot water systems in their homes. Individuals will be able to apply for a grant which will be issued if their application is successful. The individuals benefit by getting free heating and an additional income source.
This effectively means you are being paid to heat your own home. Applications can be made from Autumn 2012 and will not close until 31st March 2020.
