Entries invited for environmental design awards

The DoE Planning Service has invited entries for the UK Civic Trust’s 2005 annual award scheme for environmental design.

The scheme is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of design in improving the environment by recognising outstanding projects in the field of architecture, planning, landscape, public art and urban design.

A Planning Service spokesperson said: “We are inviting entries from the owners of outstanding new buildings, restoration projects, public art works, landscape and rural design schemes in Northern Ireland. This year, the Trust wishes to make awards outside the Greater Belfast area.”

The 2005 programme features Special Awards to promote excellence in specific categories of development and these are sponsored by a range of organisations from the commercial and public sectors.

Entries are invited from all high quality construction, landscape and lighting projects, regardless of size or type, completed between 1 January 2002 and 30 September 2004.

Entry forms and further details can be obtained from DoE Planning Service, Clarence Court, 10-18 Adelaide Street, Belfast, BT2 8GB. Telephone 028 9054 0583. The deadline for entries is Friday 17 September 2004.
