An Post Advises Customers Against Sending Mail

An Post has advised customers not to post any letters or parcels until further notice due to industrial action by workers.

Staff at IO Systems maintain the sorting process in Dublin, Athlone, Cork and Portlaoise.

However, a 14 day notice of industrial action had been issued by the Communications Workers' Union (CWU).

The strike came into effect at midnight on Thursday, 01 October.

In a statement, An Post said it "greatly regrets to advise customers not to post any mail items, with immediate effect.

"Due to the withdrawal of labour by staff of IO Systems, we are unable to process mail for delivery to customers."
