North Belfast Robbery Condemned

An SDLP North Belfast Councillor has condemned the armed robbery of a shop on the Crumlin Road yesterday.

Nichola Mallon has also urged anyone with any information to contact the police and said: "This robbery is particularly disturbing seeing that a handgun and balaclavas were involved.

"Clearly these two men are dangerous and I would urge anyone with any information about this incident to contact the police so they can be caught and prosecuted," she said, noting that cigarettes and money were taken.

The PSNI said that it happened at about 6.30pm on Thursday and that both were wearing balaclavas and later fled with cash and cigarettes in a blue plastic bag.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information to contact them at Tennent Street on 0845 600 8000.
