Royal Visitor Brightened Balmoral
The Royal Ulster's premier show had royal support this week with a relaxed visit to the prestigious south Belfast agricultural event by the Prince of Wales.
He arrived in Northern Ireland on Wednesday and travelled to the Royal Ulster Agricultural Show (RUAS) at the King's Hall complex to be greeted by a number of dignitaries including the city's Lord Mayor - and now MP - Naomi Long and Dame Mary Peters, the Lord Lieutenant of Belfast.
He toured the stands and meet livestock exhibitors, judges and stewards and also viewed the flower arranging, bee keeping and Young Farmers Club (YFC) exhibits.
Prince Charles also presented prizes to breed champions in the course of the afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Northern Ireland Agriculture Minister, Michelle Gildernew welcomed the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese to the annual Balmoral Show today.
The Sinn Fein MP told the Belfast-born premiere that it is the top event of the agri-food calendar, attracting tens of thousands of visitors and livestock exhibitors over three days.
President McAleese was attending the Department of Agriculture's (DARD) famous breakfast hosted by Minister Gildernew on Thursday morning, before enjoying a tour of the show.
Highlighting DARD's exhibition, Minister Gildernew added: "The Balmoral Show is the centre-piece event of the local farming calendar, when country comes to town."

The Minister was visiting the IncredABLE Café @ South Lake in Craigavon, a social enterprise who are making a difference to the lives of people with learning/intellectual difficulties and/or autism.

Health Minister Opens New £1.8m Causeway Hospital Unit
Health Minister Robin Swann has announced the opening of a new £1.8 million unit at Causeway Hospital, giving patients timely and direct access to surgical assessment, diagnostics and a treatment plan. The new surgical ambulatory unit will help reduce hospital admissions and attendances at Emergency Departments.

Education Minister Welcomes Progress On Teacher's Pay
Education Minister, Paul Givan, has welcomed further progress on a pay settlement for teachers following the Department of Finance's approval of the pay award. All five recognised teachers' unions (INTO, NAHT, NASUWT, NEU, UTU) have signalled their acceptance of the teachers' pay offer for 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24.
