Ernst & Young Recruit 300 In Ireland

Ernst & Young is to hire more than 300 workers in Ireland the next 18 months.

The accounting and consulting firm is recruiting graduates, accountants, tax specialists and senior executives for offices in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Belfast.

Around 25 of the new jobs would be based in Belfast, where about 130 people are currently based.

Ernst & Young said its expansion is a response to new business opportunities ahead of the economic recovery with it already employing 1,100 people in the Republic and Northern Ireland.

Half of the new jobs are for recent graduates, and it is hoped all of the positions will be filled within 18 months.

A hundred new jobs will be at its advisory business and 50 are top jobs in areas like tax, accountancy and advisory services.

Half Of Most Deprived Areas In NI Are In Belfast
Half of Northern Ireland's most deprived areas are in Belfast, it has been revealed. The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) published a report which showed the most relatively deprived area was Strabane East and the least deprived was the Belmont area in east Belfast. The data included splitting NI into 890 areas.

Yellow Warning For Ice Issued Across NI
A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued across Northern Ireland. The alert has been put in place from 4pm on Wednesday, 13 December, until 11am on Thursday, 14 December. Ice is expected to form on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths with some slippery surfaces likely.

333 New Jobs For L'Derry
More than 300 new jobs are to be created by Convergys Corporation in Londonderry, Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has announced. The American corporation will create 333 new jobs when it establishes a new customer services centre in Derry in collaboration with EE, the mobile phone network.

Region-Wide Disruption Following Snow Fall
There is widespread disruption across Northern Ireland this morning, 08 December, following snow fall in many parts of the region overnight. The Met Office has issued yellow "be aware" warnings for snow and ice until 6pm on Saturday, 9 December, with predictions that 10 – 20cm of snow could fall in NI.

Majority Believes Bonfire Organisers Should Be Held To Account For Damage

Teleperformance is to create 800 new jobs in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh. The firm is an outsourced customer service management company and the new centre in Enniskillen is its third in Northern Ireland. The company plans to create the new jobs by 2018.

PwC Announces 800 Jobs For Belfast
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has said it is to create 807 new jobs in Belfast. The roles will be filled over the next five years. More than 300 of the jobs will be for qualified accountants and graduates in the firm's new financial advisory service. The remaining 500 posts will be for graduates recruited for the firm's global client businesses.

Belfast Firm Creates 100 New Jobs
A total of 100 new jobs are to be created as part of a £40m investment in Northern Ireland. Delta Print and Packaging, which is based in west Belfast, designs and manufactures cartons and packaging for food and electronics companies, such as McDonalds and Nokia.

100 Jobs Created At Antrim Car Plant
A Japanese-owned car part manufacturing plant in County Antrim is to create 100 new jobs through a £32m investment. Ryobi Aluminium Casting (UK) Limited is investing the money in its Carrickfergus plant. The company manufactures aluminium die casting products for the European automotive market.
