Court Date Over Irish 'Tiger Kidnap'

A 43-year-old man was expected to appear before Blanchardstown District Court in the Irish Republic today charged in connection with an armed incident in Lucan in 2009.

On the 23rd of October, around 1am a number of armed and masked men forced their way into a house in Johnsbridge Estate and allegedly took hostages in what has become known as a Tiger kidnapping incident.

The family who occupied the house, a husband and wife and their two children, a boy aged six and a girl aged three, were then held hostage.

Later at 6am the husband and the two children were taken from the house.

The woman drove to work, at a financial institution in Inchicore, Dublin 8 and left around mid-day. She left her vehicle, which contained a quantity of cash at Liffey Gael's, GAA Club in Inchicore.

The alarm was then raised and Gardai became aware of the incident. The man and the two children were found unharmed at Toghers Industrial Estate outside Naas, Co. Kildare.
