Poundland Jobs Comes To Ireland

On eof Europe's biggest single price discount retailers, Poundland, has opened its first two stores in Ireland.

The new shops opened in Blanchardstown and Portlaoise today with the creation of 70 new jobs in total.

The brand will trade under the name 'Dealz'.

Along with a range of own brand products, Dealz will also stock products sourced from Irish producers such as Tayto, Barry's Tea and Brennans bread.

"We are extremely excited about the opening of our first two Irish stores," Poundland's Chief Executive Officer, Jim McCarthy said.

"We are confident that value savvy Irish consumers will love it," he added.

Poundland, which has over 355 stores in the UK, announced its expansion into Republic of Ireland in August.

Marks and Spencer to create 250 jobs
Marks and Spencer is to create around 250 new jobs in Northern Ireland due to a £35 million refurbishment of its local stores. The original store, which is based in the Donegall Place area of Belfast will be completely revamped and extended by 10,000 sq ft - incorporating the former Bank of Ireland building beside it in the process.
