Test Results Due On Body Of Man Found In Belfast

Police are waiting for the results of a post-mortem examination carried out on a body found in a van in North Belfast yesterday.

The man's body was discovered in a van on the Shore Road area of North Belfast on Tuesday morning.

Police are now trying to establish how the man died. The identity of the man has not yet been released and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

SDLP North Belfast MLA Alban Maginness said it makes for a disturbing start to the New Year for people in the area.

He said: "We may not know for a time what the circumstances of the man's death are, but it will doubtless make for an unsettled commencement to 2012 for people in the area.

"Obviously details are scant at the moment, but if anyone has any information, I would urge them to pass it to the police as soon as possible."

The van is said to have been parked on the road since Friday.
