East Belfast UVF 'Boss' Arrested

A man alleged to be the UVF boss in east Belfast has been arrested as part of a serious crimes investigation.

Stephen Matthews, 49, was arrested this morning in connection with a slate of crimes including drug offenses.

Two other men have also been arrested by detectives investigating incidents in the area in recent weeks, including a bomb attack on a house last weekend.

It is understood that a recent spate of attacks are connected to a feud between east Belfast UVF members and members of another rival and illegal organisation.

One of the crimes include an attempt on the life of the recently arrested Stephen Matthews.
