Man Dies Unnoticed On Hospital Trolley

Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital has come under fire after an elderly patient died unnoticed on a trolley at its A&E. According to The Irish News the man was only discovered by ambulance staff who were to transfer him to another unit. It is not clear how long the man was dead before he was found. Speaking about the incident a Health Official has said that the hospital was under such pressure that it had been "pushed to its limits". A full investigation has now been launched.

British Boy Among Victims Of Swiss Bus Crash

It has been revealed a British schoolboy was among the 28 people, 22 of them children, killed when a coach crashed into the wall of a tunnel in Switzerland. The coach was returning from a school skiing trip. Sebastian Bowles, 11, was a pupil at St Lambertus School in Heverlee, Belgium. His parents, Edward and Ann, identified his body in Switzerland on Thursday night.A school spokesman has appealed for the parents to be left to grieve in peace. A national day of mourning is to be held in Belgium to remember the victims of Tuesday’s crash, with a minutes silence and flags flown at half mast.

Company Strikes Oil Of Coast Of Cork

Exploration company, Providence Resources, have struck oil off the coast of Cork. They announced yesterday that its Barryroe well off the coast of Cork had delivered the first potential commercial flow rate of oil offshore of Ireland. The find is 50km out to sea, and 100 metres deep and oil and gas is successfully flowing from the well at double the rate expected. Providence CEO Tony O'Reilly said the flow rates of 3,514 barrels of oil per day (bopd) at the well were well ahead of the company's pre-drilling expectations of 1,800 bopd. He added that drilling had shown that the oils were of a very high quality. Further tests are now planned at the well. Shares in the company have risen sharply overnight.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

Man Wanted In Lithuania Arrested In Magherafelt
The PSNI have arrested a 23-year-old man in Magherafelt wanted in Lithuania to face charges of human trafficking. The man was arrested by officers from the Police Service's local policing team in Magherafelt, with assistance from the International Policing Unit. He is expected appear before extradition court in Belfast later today.

Death Of Kilkeel Man Being Treated As Murder
A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Kilkeel. On Thursday, 21 March, police received a report of a concern for safety for a couple at a property in the Newcastle Road area of the town shortly after 12.50pm. On arrival, officers located the body of a man who was unconscious and not breathing.

Police Issue Fresh Appeal For Witnesses To Banbridge Shooting
A man shot in the abdomen in a Banbridge car park on Friday, 12 April, remains in a critical condition in hospital. The man, aged in his 40s, was shot as he sat in a car by a masked man. Detectives investigating a shooting in the Rathfriland Road area returned to the scene on the evening of Friday, 19 April.
