Abuse Allegations: Staff Suspended At Care Home

Staff have been suspended at a Londonderry care home while police investigate abuse allegations, the BBC has reported.

The Western Trust confirmed it has received allegations of mistreatment at Ralph’s Close on the Gransha site.

Aidan Gordon of the trust said: "We wish to explore every possible avenue in bringing the investigation to a conclusion."

He said the allegations were of a serious and concerning nature.

The home caters to 16 adult residents with severe learning disabilities.

Mr Gordon appealed to the media to help with the investigation, admitting this was an "unusual step".

He asked anyone with information to contact the out of hours social work service on 028 71345171 or the adult safeguarding service on 028 71611366 (Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm).

It is not known how many staff have been suspended.
