Man Attacked After Thieves Return To His Home

Thieves who stole a car from a house in Co Antrim are believed to have later returned to the property where they then attacked the owner.

Police have said the house, located in the Carniny Road area of Co Antrim, was broken into around 1.30am on Thursday morning when a group of men stole the man's car – a black Audi A3.

The vehicle was driven to Broughshane.

Around 3am, it is thought the robbers then returned to the house, but when they were interrupted by the owner, they struck him with a piece of metal.

The victim was taken to hospital for his injuries.

Officers investigating the incident have since arrested a 25-year-old man in Broughshane and he is helping police with their inquiries.

A second man, aged 20, was later arrested by police.

The PSNI have asked for anyone with any information, or who may have seen the car or know of its whereabouts, to contact them.
