Met Office Issues Yellow Rain Warning

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for Northern Ireland, following a morning of torrential rain and wind in parts of the country.

Further outbreaks of heavy, thundery, rain are expected to spread from the south during today and overnight into Friday, with the potential for some torrential downpours in places.

Met Eireann, the Irish meteorological service, said: "Outbreaks of rain in the east will spread to most parts this morning. This rain will be heavy and persistent at times with a risk of localised flooding. However; it will be drier in the far west with just scattered showers. Mild with highs of 16 to 18 Celsius in moderate to fresh southeast breezes. Winds will become light southerly during the afternoon."

The UK Met Office has warned the public to be aware of the risk of flooding.
