Man Killed In Co Down Road Accident
A man has been killed in a road accident in County Down.
The 44-year-old was involved in a collision on the Ballygowan Road in Saintfield at about 06:20 on Monday morning. No other vehicle was involved.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
Alliance Strangford MLA Kieran McCarthy said: "I was very saddened to hear that another life has been lost on our roads. I would like to express my condolences to the family and friends of this man. His family must be devastated by this horrific news.
"I am very concerned that this is the sixth road death in 2014. However, I am pleased to see the Environment Minister taking action by organising a meeting of the Road Safety Forum.
"I would urge all road users to take extra precautions when out on the road to ensure that no more lives are lost."

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.
