Carryduff Man Assaulted At Home

A man has been assaulted by a number of masked men at his home in Carryduff.

The incident occurred at about 02:00 on Wednesday morning when the 32-year-old answered a knock to the door of his Alveston Park home and was confronted by a man with a scarf obscuring his face.

The man punched the victim a number of times in the face. A second masked man then struck him on the side of the head with a piece of wood.

He fell to the ground and was punched and kicked a number of times.

The assailants then made off in the direction of Killynure Road where they were joined by a third male who had been waiting across the street throughout the assault.

The first male is described as around 6' tall wearing a blue top with the hood pulled up, dark bottoms and a dark scarf which covered his face.

The second is described as around 6' tall of medium build, wearing a dark hooded top and dark bottoms, with a scarf covering his face.

The third male is described as being of large build and was again dressed in dark clothing with a scarf obscuring his face.

Detectives are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with information. They can be contacted at Castlereagh CID by calling 0845 600 8000.

Beds Closed At Altnagelvin Area Hospital Amid Bug Outbreak
All non-urgent routine procedures have been cancelled at Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Londonderry in an effort to stop the spread of a vomiting bug. The Western Health Trust said that approximately 25 beds at the hospital are to be "temporarily closed" at the hospital, also citing staff shortages and a "number of ongoing challenges".

Man In Serious Condition After Being Struck By Car In Dunmurry
A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Dunmurry. The victim, a man in his 40s, was hit by the vehicle at the junction of Glebe Road and Upper Dunmurry Lane at around 1.40am on Saturday, 05 August. Sergeant Tom Donnelly said the driver of the car, a man in his 60s, was arrested and questioned by police.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police Appeal For Missing Man Bob Maher
Police are appealing for information to help trace missing man Bob Maher, aged 77. Mr Maher, who has been described as vulnerable, was last seen in the Belle Isle area of Fermanagh at around 6pm on Tuesday, 25 July. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and navy coloured shorts. He has grey hair and a goatee beard.

County Armagh pensioner robbed by gang
Police have appealed for information after a pensioner was robbed by a gang in her home in County Armagh. A spokesperson for the PSNI said that a gang of up to six men broke into the home of a woman aged in her early 80s, by forcing their way through a front window of her home in the Bessbrook area at around 7pm yesterday evening.

Man Armed With Hurley Bat Robs Bar In Dunmurry
Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a bar in the Dunmurry area in the early hours of Monday morning. The incident occurred at premises on the Glenburn Road at approximately 12.30am. A masked man, armed with a hurley bat, threatened and demanded money from a female staff member. He made off with a sum of cash.

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Coleraine on Saturday, 04 July. A delivery driver was approached by two men in Oakvale Park at around 2.25am. He was ordered to hand over money and the pair made off in the direction of the playing fields.

Police Appeal After Man Attacked And Robbed In South Belfast
Police are appealing for information after a man was punched in the face and robbed in south Belfast. The attack occurred in the College Park Avenue area on Saturday 31 October. Another man punched the victim in the face and stole his bag. The suspect, believed to be in his 30s, is described as around 6ft tall with stubble.

Police have launched an investigation after windows were smashed at a Masonic Hall in Co Down. The hall on the Dromore Road in Ballynahinch is believed to have been targeted on Thursday afternoon. Police are searching for a man described as aged in his 30s, of medium build with dark hair. He was wearing a dark denim jacket.

Police Investigate 'Link' Between Two Burglaries In North Belfast
Detectives are investigating a possible link following two burglaries in north Belfast on Monday night. In the first incident an elderly woman was knocked to the ground by a man as she answered her door in the Lawnview Street area just after 7pm. The man made off empty handed when the woman began shouting.

Armed Men Rob Ardglass Golf Club
Two masked men have raided a golf club in Ardglass, County Down. The men, armed with knives, entered the premises in the Castle Place area at approximately 10.55am on Monday. The pair left with a sum of money and made off in a silver BMW, which was later found in the Ballygilbert area. No one was injured.
