Sexual assault on teenager 'horrific'
An Alliance councillor has described an incident in which a teenage woman was sexually assaulted in Bangor as "horrific".
The incident occurred at around 9.40pm last night when a 19-year-old was attacked as she walked through Byransford Meadow in the town.
The man, who was aged between 45 and 50, threatened her with a knife before forcing her down a pathway and sexually assaulting her
The attacker is said to have had a thistle tatoo on his right arm.
Alliance representative Eileen Bell condemned the attack saying it was vital for members of the public to help police with their enquiries.
She said: "There is a real danger that whoever is behind this attack could strike again. The PSNI have a reasonable description of the man, so it is vital that members of the public help the police bring him to justice as quickly as possible."
Police in Bangor have appealed for anyone who observed the man, or saw him running away from the scene to contact them.
