Farmer Guilty Of Philip Strickland Murder

Jimmy Seales, 56, Ballykeel Road, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a man two years ago in County Down.

His two sons Ian and Jason Weir had already pleaded guilty to murder.

Philip Strickland, 37, died after being shot in the leg on the Ballyglughorn Road in January 2012.

Mr Strickland was bundled into the trunk of his car and driven a short distance to the Ballydrain Road, where he was shot in face at point blank range.

The father of four has always denied being present but earlier in the trial, Ian Weir said his father had been at the scene armed with a gun.
