Film To Mark History Of Belfast's City Hall
A film depicting the history of Belfast's City Hall is to be screened at an event in the building next month.
Compiled from BBC archives to mark the 90th anniversary of the first BBC Services broadcast in Belfast, the film is to be shown as part of a series of European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) events taking place across Northern Ireland.
Organised by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and the Department of the Environment, EHOD will grant free access to over 400 properties and events in NI on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14th September.
BBC Services in Northern Ireland began with the first broadcast of 2BE on 15 September 1924.
The short film being screened at City Hall on Saturday 13th September and Sunday 14 September will show footage of the architecture of the building, its history and some of its people over the last 90 years.
Screenings will take place in the Reception Room at 10:00, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30 and 15:30 each day.
Lord Mayor of Belfast, Nichola Mallon, said: "City Hall has featured in many BBC programmes - reflecting its social, political and architectural significance and BBC television has captured the changing story of the building and its central place in the life of the city and beyond.
"I’m very much looking forward to seeing this unique short screening of City Hall within this iconic building in September and would encourage all from near and far to see it too – appreciating the rich history and architecture of City Hall, its people and history. Visitors to City Hall on 13 September and 14 September can also complement their visit by enjoying a tour of this fine building before or after their screening."

Home Safety And Crime Prevention Event At Belfast City Hall
A free home safety and crime prevention advice event is to be held at Belfast City Hall on Friday, 01 March. The Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has organised the event, which is free and will take place from 10am-1pm in Belfast City Hall. Complimentary tea, coffee and refreshments will also be provided.

Primark Donates £500,000 To Support Businesses Affected By Fire
Retailer Primark is donating £500,000 to Belfast City Council's City Recovery Investment Fund. The fund is being set up after a number of businesses have been severely affected by the fire at the Bank Buildings which happened over three weeks ago. A cordon remains in place and 14 firms have been closed for up to four months.

The event was organised by community development organisation, Small Steps, with support from the Ulster-Scots Agency and in partnership with Belfast City Council.
