Security Alert In Newtownabbey

A security alert is underway in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

It is understood a number of homes have been evacuated from the Arthur Road area.

Police and bomb disposal officers are at the scene following reports that a suspicious object had been found.

The road has been closed to traffic between Whitewell Road and the Abbey Centre.

On Wednesday afternoon, police said a "viable device" had been found at the scene. It has been made safe and removed for further examination.

Man Found In Moneymore Sustained Gunshot Wound To His Head
A man found injured in Moneymore in L'Derry has sustained a gunshot wound to his head, according to the police. The 22-year-old victim was discovered slumped in a vehicle in the Carndaisy Road area at around 9.50pm on Friday, 09 March. He is currently being treated in hospital. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Dies In Workplace Accident In Co Armagh
A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.
