Snow And Ice Warning For NI
A 'yellow' weather warning has been issued by the Met Office in preparation of snow and ice across Northern Ireland this week. The warning is valid until Wednesday 14 January.
Frequent showers of sleet or snow are expected to affect Scotland and Northern Ireland from Monday evening into Tuesday.
Accumulations of 2-4 cm of snow are likely above about 100 m, as well as low levels locally. Icy patches are likely to develop from early on Monday evening. Some areas could also experience hail and lightning, especially close to western coasts.
During Tuesday the risk of snow will extend into northern England, especially across the Pennines and higher parts of Cumbria.
The Chief Forecaster said: "A deep depression passing close to the north of Scotland will pull cold air across the northern parts of the UK as it passes, allowing the frequent showers to fall as sleet or snow in many parts. Near western coasts rain may predominate, although this increases the ice risk as road temperatures fall below zero. Hail and lightning are also likely to be hazards here.
"The colder air will extend further south during Tuesday with snow falling to progressively lower levels across northern England. On Tuesday night a more organised area of showery precipitation is likely to affect Scotland, which has the potential to produce several centimetres of snow at low levels, including the Central Belt, though details of this are rather uncertain at present. Ice is also likely to be a hazard again on Tuesday night."

Appeal Following Spate Of Burglaries Across Coleraine
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a recent spate of burglaries in Coleraine. On the morning of Sunday, 25 February, police received a report of a break-in at a house in the Magheraboy Road area of Portrush. It is believed that the burglary occurred sometime overnight on Saturday evening, 24th February.

Motorists Warned To Take Care Following Heavy Snow Fall In NI
Motorists are being warned to take care on the roads following heavy snow fall in some areas of Northern Ireland. Temperatures plummeted to -1 degrees overnight leaving ice on the roads. A PSNI spokesperson said: "We don't need much snow and ice for our wee country to grind to a halt! "Leave extra time for your journey.

Heavy snow showers affect whole of NI
Heavy snow showers have affected many parts of Northern Ireland overnight and there is a Met Office severe weather warning in force. Snow depths ranged from one inch to six inches with many schools closing for the day because of the dangerous conditions.
