SlurryKat Announces Job Expansion

Twelve new jobs are to be created by Waringstown-based company, SlurryKat.

The firm, which designs, manufactures and exports agri-equipment for the management of farm slurry, has said it will recruit additional management and production staff to help drive growth in international markets.

The roles will be created in a number of areas, such as manufacturing, production, customer service and quality control, will help to meet anticipated levels of business in the coming months.

The jobs are also expected to generate £221,000 per year in additional salaries.

Garth Cairns, SlurryKat Chief Executive, said: "Our objective in what is a very significant investment for the business is to accelerate our growth in key international markets including UK, the Republic of Ireland, other parts of Europe, the Nordics as well as Australia and New Zealand, two markets that are becoming increasingly important for us.

"We are currently negotiating an exclusive distribution agreement with a New Zealand based agricultural market leader, which promotes and sells an extensive range of agricultural equipment throughout New Zealand.

"Our success in these markets is based on delivering consistently high quality, innovative and reliable machinery that exceeds the requirements of our customers. We achieve this by developing close relationships with them that enables us to provide the equipment they need and as quickly as possible by means of our responsive and versatile product design and manufacturing systems."

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster welcomed the announcement. She added: "SlurryKat is an ambitious and export-led company with an impressive track record in developing and delivering highly innovative machinery for the efficient management of slurry and other farm waste materials.

"Their success is built on a strong market focus and flexible manufacturing systems which enable them to identify and respond quickly to opportunities for its innovative product range.

"The assistance offered by Invest Northern Ireland in recent years has enabled Slurrykat to expand its international sales and broaden its product range. I am pleased Invest Northern Ireland has been able to support these new jobs by the offer of £84,000 through their Jobs Fund."
