Public Urged To Stay Away From North Coast Cliff Edges
The public is being urged to stay away from dangerous cliff edges when visiting beaches on the north coast.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) said the recent winter storms have dramatically changed the profile of beaches at Whiterocks, Portrush East and Portstewart creating high sand cliffs which are unstable.
RNLI Lifeguard Manager Mike Grocott said: "Winter storms have taken their toll on the make-up of some of the beaches this year, particularly at Whiterocks, Portrush East and Portstewart and many people returning to these favourite spots may be surprised at how different everything looks. This includes significant erosion of the sand dunes where gentle slopes have washed away leaving sheer sand cliffs, some of which are up to 18 feet high. Access points have been altered and on some beaches the shifting sand has left deep channels that in turn create strong rip currents.
"The best advice is to stay away from the sand cliff edges and bases."

Gobbins Cliff Path Closed After Rockfall
The Gobbins cliff path in Co Antrim has been closed for the second time this year. The attraction shut on Monday, 20 June following an increase in recorded levels of natural rockfall, according to Mid and East Antrim Council.

Refurb Work Complete On The Gobbins Cliff Path
Refurbishment work on The Gobbins Cliff Path in Islandmagee is now complete. Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Jonathan Bell, visited the preview event today, 18 August, and said the restoration of the historic coastal path and the development of the new visitor centre will help put the coastline back on the tourist map.

Police in Scotland believe they have discovered the body of a missing Northern Ireland woman. Karen Coyles, 47, was last seen on the night September 11 and the alarm was raised when she did not show up for her job in The University of Ulster.
