50 New Jobs To Be Created In Cork
Malawarebytes, the company founded to protect people and businesses from next-generation cyberthreats, is to create 50 new jobs in Cork over the next three years.
The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Malwarebytes was founded in 2008 by Marcin Kleczynski to tackle advanced online threats which consistently escape detection by traditional anti-virus tools. The proprietary and innovative software protects both consumers and businesses using intelligent heuristics and behaviour-based technologies which are specifically designed to counteract the latest, most advanced, online threats. With global headquarters in Silicon Valley, USA, the fast growing company has already been nominated as one of Forbes Magazine's 'America's Most Promising Companies' this year.
Minister Bruton said: "Technology is a key sector which we have targeted as part of our Action Plan for Jobs, and in the past three years we have seen an impressive jobs performance in this area. Today’s announcement that Malwarebytes is establishing a new facility in Cork with the creation of 50 jobs is another important boost. I am determined to ensure that with the right policies we can see continued job growth and create an extra 40,000 jobs across the country this year."

Fine Gael Cork North West Deputy, Áine Collins, has said recent figures from the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, which show that in excess of 4,000 net jobs have been created by Enterprise Ireland (EI) and IDA-supported companies since Fine Gael and Labour came to power, are proof that the Government’s jobs strategy is working.

Fine Gael TD for Cork North West, Áine Collins, has said that recent Enterprise Ireland employment figures show that Cork is going from strength to strength with thousands of extra jobs created over the last three years. She said: "Cork saw 4,655 new Enterprise Ireland jobs created during the first three years of this Government’s term in office.

Offshore Company Axes Jobs
Around 150 jobs in Aberdeen and Dundee have been axed after an offshore services company ceased trading. Oceanteam Power and Umbilical has been forced to close when the firm's holding company withdrew its financial support. Staff are based in Aberdeen, at workshops in Dundee and offshore.
