Third Vehicle Being Examined In Fatal Crash

A third vehicle is being examined in relation to a fatal road traffic collision which occurred near Ballycastle earlier this month.

On 6 April, Easter Monday, two vehicles collided on the Cushendall Road at around 3.40am. Johnny Black, 19, was said to be driving a Peugeot 207 which was involved in the crash with 26-year-old Robin Wilson's Volkswagen Bora. Mr Black was pronounced dead at the scene and Mr Wilson, who was from Armoy, later died in hospital.

Six others required hospital treatment for their injuries, one of whom, an 18-year-old female, remains in a critical condition hospital.

Police have now said that they are examining a third vehicle. They have said the vehicle may have been parked on a nearby coastal road for a number of hours after the incident occurred. It is thought to have been parked on the Carrickmore Road, close to Maguire Caravan Park, from Monday morning until Monday evening. Last week, police asked anyone who may have seen a vehicle being towed away or recovered by a lorry from this area during this time to contact them. Today, they have said they are now examining a vehicle as part of an investigation into the crash. It was not recovered from the scene, but later made available to police.

Alliance Party Unveils Election Manifesto

The Alliance Party has unveiled its Westminster manifesto.

At the launch, the party said its representation at Westminster will help achieve its vision of a shared future.

Naomi Long, Alliance Deputy Leader and East Belfast Westminster candidate, spoke at the launch at the MAC in the city.

She said: "Alliance followed through on each of our previous manifesto commitments in the last Parliament, fulfilling our pre-election promises to the people. We pledged to end double-jobbing – we did. We vowed to increase transparency in donations – we did. We guaranteed to fight welfare reform – we did.

"We did all that while providing the best value for money from any local party in Westminster. So while others are trying to make this election about representation in the House of Commons, the numbers don't lie. Alliance tops the poll.

"In the next Parliament, Alliance will continue our fight to provide the best future we can for everyone in Northern Ireland, ensuring their voice is heard and respected."
